Created from Twelve basic principles of animation Disney animators Ollie Johnston and Frank Thomas set out twelve principles for making drawn characters feel alive: squash and stretch, anticipation, staging, straight-ahead and pose-to-pose, follow-through and overlapping action, slow in and slow out, arcs, secondary action, timing, exaggeration, solid drawing and appeal. TWELVE the festival is fictional; the principles are the craft every animator learns.
